Tim O'Leary, Principal

During his time in CVSD, Tim has worked extensively in K–8 settings, supporting digital learning, curriculum development, instructional coaching, and school leadership. His work has also included district-wide leadership as a Rowland Fellow, where he helped develop computer science learning experiences across CVSD’s K–12 schools. He also played a key role in establishing CVSD’s Virtual Learning Academy and served as its middle-level principal during the 2020–2021 school year, an important part of the district’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before joining CVSD, Tim worked as a high school teacher and special educator, experiences that continue to shape his student-centered approach to leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont and a Master of Arts degree from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English.

Beyond his work at CCS, Tim is the Program Director and Co-Founder of What’s the Story? The Young Filmmakers’ Social Action Team, a Middlebury College–based program that supports middle and high school students across the Americas as they create their first documentary films on socially relevant topics.

Tim is passionate about meaningful learning and creating school experiences where students, staff, families, and community members feel known, connected, and engaged. He especially values the opportunity to work across all nine grade levels at Charlotte Central School.

Lauren Goracy, Assistant Principal and CCS Special Services Director

Teaching and leading have always been a passion of Lauren's. She believes in the potential of all students and values strong relationships in order to help students succeed. Lauren graduated from the University of Vermont in 2012 with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She continued her education at UVM and completed the graduate program in Special Education. She currently holds degrees in both Elementary Education K-6 and Special Education K-12. Lauren also completed the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study Program at Saint Michael's College for the title and certification of Director of Special Education in May 2023. 

Lauren grew up in Lebanon Township, New Jersey, a rural area landscaped with forests and farms. Field Hockey is what brought her to the state of Vermont. She played on the varsity team at UVM and fell in love with this beautiful state. Lauren currently lives in Richmond, Vermont, on a dirt road near a beaver pond. She loves nature and enjoys being outside in her backyard. She also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, reading, snowshoeing, bird watching, yoga, and playing/coaching field hockey. She believes that everyone can be a lifelong learner and it is her goal in life to continue to be curious about the world, explore new things, and encourage that in others.
